The men’s rugby team squares off in our school’s first sports state championship tournament.
Team representatives must check in at the scorer’s table at 9:30 for a coaches meeting. Tournament play begins at 10:00.
Each team in the tournament will play 3 matches unless there are forfeits.
Finals schedule will be posted after all match results are in.
Matches will be played every 20 minutes and will consist of two, seven minute halves and a two minute half-time. Teams more than two minutes late for a scheduled match will forfeit that match.
There will be two pools of three. Pool play will be round robin format and championship play will be seeded based upon pool play results. After pool play seeded teams will play the following matches: 3rd place pool A vs. 3rd place pool B (5th place match), 2nd place pool A vs. 2nd place pool B (3rd place match) and 1st place pool A vs. 1st place pool B (championship match).
Scoring for pool play will be: four points for a win, two points for a tie and zero points for a loss
Tie breakers for pool play will be (in this order): Record, Head to head, Least tries conceded, Tries scored, Points scored, Try differential, Point differential, Coin toss.
Tie breaker for championship play will be sudden death overtime. Sudden death periods will be five minutes with a one minute break. Play will continue until there is a winner.
